ABSTRACT

Introduction: Emotional stress and anxiety during COVID-19 pandemic has gained a lot of attention. The capacity to withstand from the manipulated thinking and COVID-19 related stress and anxiety depends on the resilience level of an individual. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) has patronizing benefits for people affected with altered mental health. Relieving COVID-19 related anxiety using CBT has beneficial impact on health and improves quality of life of people. Objective: Aimed to relieve the anxiety of Omani population during COVID-19 pandemic using CBT. Methods: This research utilized a pre-experimental one group pre-test post-test design. A non-probability convenient sampling technique was used to select 96 Omani people who fulfilled the inclusion criteria. The pre-anxiety level was assessed using CAS (Corona virus Anxiety Scale). The participants who scored above nine in the scale were given three sessions of CBT. Post-anxiety level was assessed using CAS after three CBT sessions. Results: The study revealed that the level of anxiety reduced during post-test (6.35) after intervention when compared to pre-test (13.22). The CBT intervention was effective in reducing the anxiety in the post-test at p ≤ .000. Conclusion: CBT is effective in reducing COVID-19 related anxiety among the Omani population. Therefore, this strategy is highly recommended in people having mental health issues.

ABSTRACT

Oman has performed very well in the healthcare sector since 1970, it has achieved great heights in healthcare delivery. As per world bank data 2020, Oman has achieved 99% in providing basic sanitation services among its citizen and it has maintained this level since 2015.[1]. Centre of Studies Research-CSR-MOH has prepared a strategic plan “Health Vision 2050 for Health Research “to make Oman a regional leader in the Research & Development of Health Sector. As per this document, its mission is to provide a platform and conduct Research in the healthcare sector to address and prioritize healthcare services and reduce inequality in healthcare services among its citizen. This can be a major boost and contribute to socioeconomic development irrespective of the income among the Omani citizen. [2]. For any country to become prosperous needs a large pool of human capital, which can be achieved by providing good education and cheap health services to its citizen. Efficient human capitols lead to a good economy which further leads good GDP for any country. We can say the GDP of any country and its human capital complement each other. In this research paper, I have studied and analyzed the “Income & Expenditure” dataset from the data portal offal Al-Dakhliyah region of Oman, Health Vision document-2050, and Oman World Health Survey-2008. As per the report, Oman has scored very well ahead among the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in economic stability, health, civil society, governance, and environment, in current-level Sustainable Economic Development Assessment (SEDA) scores, according to a report.[9]. In this research paper, we have reviewed and studied the impact of family income on sanitation, hygiene, and disease. Qualitative and quantitative methods like data collection using questionnaires, and world bank data and also reviewed various related research papers for our analysis. In this research paper, we have compared pre & post covid impacts on sanitation and hygiene practices among Omani citizens. A systematic review of published literature (2000-2019) evaluating the impact of family income on sanitation, hygiene, and disease. In low-and middle-income families [we used world bank data], we sought to examine the relationship between WASH provisions in healthcare facilities (HCF) and patient satisfaction/care-seeking behavior.[3].

ABSTRACT

The coronavirus, a type of virus that can cause a variety of illnesses, from minor respiratory infections to serious pneumonia. The Coronavirus (COVID-19) is a brand-new form of Coronavirus that has never been seen in humans before. The virus's first case was discovered in Wuhan. The first incident in Oman included a trip to Iran. The impact of Coronavirus (COVID-19) is having a significant impact on every aspect of our lives in the middle east and other countries across the world. The local government has made every effort to reduce the impact of this virus on citizens and residents by launching a national campaign for Oman Vs. COVID-19 and the work from home (WFH) initiative were very successful during the lockdown in support of companies, according to the mandate of the government. The present study aims to explore the role of various initiatives taken by authorities and measures the other viable options to the pandemic. Omanis trust the country's ability to rebound from the global COVID-19 pandemic and in the country's ability to outperform other countries in the region in terms of economic growth. It concludes that the authorities have considered adopting emergency measures to assist residents in managing their work and care, to strengthen and expand income support measures, to broaden support for SMEs and self-employed people and to improve measures for health care services once for all. © The Electrochemical Society

ABSTRACT

Objective: Surgical face masks have been recommended by World Health Organization (WHO) during the COVID-19 pandemic. Nowadays wearing masks have become a norm and lifestyle around the globe. The present investigation was carried out to evaluate the feasibility of developing masks loaded with analytical grade sodium chloride (NaCl), Iodized salts (IS) and Omani sea salt (OSS) with or without sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3). Methods: The saline loaded masks were prepared by soaking the middle layer of the mask in 30% (w/v) saline solutions (NaCl, IS, OSS) with or without 10% NaHCO3 for 24 h followed by drying at room temperature. The prepared saline solutions and its combinations were evaluated for antimicrobial efficacy against the bacteria like Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Proteus vulgaris, Salmonella typhi, and Staphylococcus aureus, and antifungal activity against the Penicillium spp. and Rhizopus spp. by agar diffusion. Optical microscopy was employed to observe the formation of salt crystal in the mask material. Survivability of S. aureus and P. aeruginosa was tested on the mask material loaded with 30% OSS + 10% NaHCO3 at particular time intervals. Results: The results showed that a combination of 30% OSS + 10% NaHCO3 exhibited promising antimicrobial activity against all the bacteria as well as Rhizopus spp. compared to the 30% IS + 10% NaHCO3. Moreover, the middle layer of the mask loaded with saline solutions of 30% OSS + 10% NaHCO3 or 30% IS + 10% NaHCO3 have antibacterial activity, particularly for oral microbiome. On dehydration, the masks materials showed the presence of a significant amount of salt crystals. Survivability tests showed that both S. aureus and P. aeruginosa were killed within 3 h of contact with the salt crystals on the mask materials. Conclusions: A combination of 30% OSS + 10% NaHCO3 possessed significant antimicrobial activities on the tested microorganisms. Presence of a significant amount of salt crystals on dehydration of the saline loaded masks can be used as an effective protective barrier to infectious respiratory agents.
